Nicola Biasi was born in Friuli Venezia Giulia, a region where viticulture is not just tradition, but identity. It is within this environment that his passion took shape, a bond, almost inevitable, that led him to pursue studies as an Oenological Technician.
Fresh out of school, Nicola began building his experience in two symbolic Friulian wineries: first Jermann, then Zuaniof the Felluga family. There he absorbed the philosophy behind Italy’s greatest white wines, learned the importance of meticulous detail, and began to define his own style. But Nicola’s ambition was broader: he felt the need to confront new worlds, to understand how wine changes when climate, varieties, and landscapes change. He therefore set off for Australia, joining Victorian Alps in Gapsted, where he discovered a different, pragmatic, straightforward approach that enriched him with new techniques and sensibilities.
He later flew to South Africa to work at Bouchard Finlayson, a winery renowned for elegance and precision—an experience that allowed him to further sharpen his international vision and understand how the same grape variety can assume entirely different identities depending on the territory.
Upon returning to Italy, he was called to Tuscany, a region that fascinated him and challenged him deeply. There, for nearly a decade, he managed two significant and characterful estates: San Polo in Montalcino and Poggio al Tesoro in Bolgheri, owned by Marilisa Allegrini. Those were intense years: fieldwork, harvests, experimentation, refinements, travels, years in which Nicola shaped both his style and the kind of winemaker he aspired to become.
In 2016 he decided to channel his accumulated experience into a freelance career, beginning to collaborate with small and large wineries across various Italian regions. Four years later, in 2020, he founded Nicola Biasi Consulting, a consultancy firm that now oversees projects throughout most of Italy, crafting for each winery a tailored path built around the needs of the territory and the potential of its grape varieties.
Recognition soon followed. In 2020, during the Vinoway Wine Selection 2021, Nicola was awarded Best Young Oenologist of Italy. A year later, during the Merano WineFestival Preview, he received one of the most coveted titles in the industry: Cult Oenologist, reserved for the seven best Italian winemakers, making him the youngest ever to receive the honor, a milestone of great significance.
Also in 2021, he founded the Resistenti Nicola Biasi business network: a visionary project that today brings together eight wineries united by the goal of producing outstanding wines through a model of authentic and measurable sustainability, both in the vineyard and in the cellar. The project focuses on resistant varieties, currently the only concrete and innovative answer to sustainability in the wine sector.
Within this path emerged the success of his signature wine, Vin de la Neu, an alpine white that increasingly stands among Italy’s benchmark labels. Leading wine guides consistently reward it: Platinum at the Merano WineFestival, Three Glasses from Gambero Rosso, a place among Italy’s top ten wines for Bibenda, and the title of Best White Wine of Italyby Raffaele Vecchione, WinesCritic.
Vin de la Neu thus becomes not only a wine, but a tangible expression of Nicola’s vision: quality, territorial identity, and research.
The year 2022 marked another milestone. The Resistenti Nicola Biasi project was awarded Wine Project of the Year by Food and Travel Italia, while on the same evening Nicola received the Oenologist of the Year award, two recognitions that confirmed the strength of his path and the impact of his work on the Italian wine landscape.
In 2024, Vin de la Neu was included among the 50 rare wines of the Gambero Rosso 2025 Guide, while Resistenti Nicola Biasi received two special awards from Gambero Rosso and DoctorWine for its contribution to sustainable viticulture and enology.
The 2025 further solidified Nicola’s position among the most influential names in Italian winemaking: during the Merano WineFestival, The WineHunter once again included him among the 7 Cult Oenologists, reaffirming his role as an innovator and confirming him yet again as the youngest among the pillars of contemporary enology.
That same year, Gambero Rosso selected in preview the 2023 vintage of Vin de la Neu among its 50 rare wines, marking another step forward in Nicola’s qualitative journey.
Today, Nicola Biasi stands as one of the most authoritative voices in the new generation of Italian winemaking, a professional who combines solid roots, experience, continuous research, and a forward-looking vision centered on true sustainability and uncompromising quality. His work, both technical and human, places at its core the identity of territories and the people who inhabit them, giving life to wines that express freshness, elegance, and the future
Born in 1993, Martina Casagrande was the first member to join the Nicola Biasi Consulting team. Born and raised in Alessandria, Piedmont, she graduated in Biological Sciences from the University of Eastern Piedmont. In 2019, after completing a master’s in Marketing and Wine Viticulture, she undertook an internship with Nicola, following him on his consulting projects and Italian and international events. In August 2021, she officially began working with NB Consulting and the Resistenti Nicola Biasi network. She earned her AIS Sommelier certification in September 2022.
Martina serves as the executive assistant of the company and network, overseeing all events, client contacts, and the practical organization of every activity. Without her, the team would be lost. She believes she has found her fortune in her work: the chance to travel, discover new territories, meet wonderful people, and above all, work alongside a professional like Nicola, which enriches her every day. All of this is accompanied by excellent glasses of wine, which she cannot do without. In March 2023, she and Nicola purchased a small vineyard in Germany, becoming a producer of Moselle Riesling—a wine and region that have always fascinated her.
Elisa Solfanelli, born in 1990, is a young Tuscan oenologist. She graduated in Viticulture and Enology from the University of Florence and has been a licensed agronomist since 2021. After earning her AIS Sommelier qualification, completing a harvest in Australia in 2015, and training at the Italian pruning school Simonit&Sirch, she settled as an in-house oenologist at a large winery in the province of Siena.
In 2023, she decided to further refine her winemaking skills by joining Nicola, officially becoming part of the NB Consulting team. She manages both vineyard and winery operations for all companies across Italy supported by NB Consulting.
Her love, passion, and dedication to her work are rooted in what she calls “my place in the world—the peace of the vineyard, the scent of the winery.” She joined NB because it is a young team led by Nicola, whom she sees as a true professional with strong personality, foresight, and relentless drive for improvement. The opportunity to work across multiple wine regions provides her with continuous personal and professional growth. In a short time, she has become indispensable to the team.
